Pont Saint Bénézet
It’s that time of year again when water iris are in bloom. The top one in front of the famous Pont d’Avignon (whose real name is Pont Saint Bénézet), the bottom one showing in the distance the bridge you can actually use today to cross the river, Pont du Royaume, some 400 yards downstream.
Voici revenu le temps de la floraison des iris d’eau, une merveille. En fond sur la photo du haut le pont d’Avignon (dont le vrai nom est pont Saint Bénézet) et sur celle du bas, au loin, le pont du Royaume qui sert effectivement à passer le Rhône aujourd’hui, environ 400 mètres en aval.
